About us

Houdatsushimizu-town has the only beach in Japan that is open to vehicles, the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway. It is sandwiched between the sea that faces the driveway and the highest peak in the Noto Peninsula, Mt. Houdatsu. The town enjoys the blessings offered by Noto’s Satoyama-Satoumi.

Nurtured by the abundant underground water from Mt. Houdatsu, the area produces plentiful amounts of figs and Ruby Roman grapes, which have the highest yields in Ishikawa Prefecture; Koshihikari rice, which is produced in mountainous areas; and Houdatsu kudzu arrowroot, which has a history of 450 years.

Located in the center of Ishikawa and the gateway to the Noto Peninsula

Located in the central part of Ishikawa Prefecture, Hodatsu–Shimizu-cho lies adjacent to Hakui in the north, Hoku and Tsubata-machi in the south, the Sea of Japan in the west, and the cities of Himi and Takaoki in Toyama Prefecture in the east. Kanazawa, which is the seat of the prefectural government, is located about 35 km away and can be reached in about 30 minutes oo the Noto Satoyama Kaido if traveling by car. With three stations on the JR Nanao Line, the area is also convenient for commuting to work or to school.
